The Be Road Safe Africa program, a collaboration between Puma Energy and Amend, aims to improve road safety for primary school children across Sub-Saharan Africa. The program focuses on education and community engagement to raise awareness among students, policy makers and the general public about the importance of road traffic injuries as a public health concern in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Each year, in each of the project countries, a number of high-risk schools participate in the project, with activities including:

  • Launch Meetings: Introducing the program to key stakeholders.
  • Road Safety Education:See and Be Seen” lessons improving student safety awareness at primary schools.
  • Drawing Competitions: Reinforcing safety messages creatively, with prize ceremonies for engagement.
  • Be Road Safe Africa Clubs: Training student “Ambassadors” for peer education.
  • Kids’ Courts: Empowering students to educate traffic violators.

Since the start in 2023, the Be Road Safe Africa program has reached over 70,000 children.
